Leona's Haven: Where Art, Family, and Joy Intertwine

Interior Stylist Leona Laviña-Panutat, dedicated wife to Wesley Panutat and loving mother to Wyatt and Walt, recently invited us into her home - a world where color, comfort, and coziness reign.

As we stepped into her home’s foyer, we were greeted by a collection of paintings that tell tales of harvest and abundance. Carefully curated over 15 years, these artworks reflect the essence of her family life, embodying a space where everyone is not just welcomed but encouraged to have a great time. Leona's home is as vibrant as it is inviting, exuding a welcoming charm that captivates all who enter.

The Heart of the Home

The centerpiece of Leona's living room is a dark gray couch, a decade-old companion that comfortably seats six. This choice of color is a practical decision to withstand the playful antics of her boys. It symbolizes the essence of their home – a place where nothing is too precious for their children. With a seating capacity of 12, Leona's entertaining spirit shines through, ensuring every guest feels at ease.

A Gathering Place

In her dining room, a square table stands as a symbol of togetherness, where every seat is equally considered and given importance. This unique piece is accompanied by chairs that reflect a blend of mid-century inspiration with a Filipino twist, honoring the craftsmanship of local woodworkers she respects and admires. The gallery wall, a dynamic space featuring artists like Dominic Rubio, Lydia Velasco, Christian Tamondong, Francis Nacion, and more, adds a touch of artistry and personal flair to the space.

“To accommodate an ever-changing gallery of paintings, Leona hangs artworks using nylon strings tied to hooks above. That way, she can mix and match as she pleases, without having to drill hooks on the wall. During the pandemic, Leona and her family also transformed their outdoor lanai into a haven of relaxation.

Collecting Memories

Leona's advice on collecting art is simple – buy what you love. “At the end of the day, it has to be something you are going to be happy looking at day in, day out, year after year,” she explains. Art should be a reflection of one's soul, a piece that brings joy and inspiration every day. This philosophy echoes throughout her home, where every artwork tells a story and finds a special place in their hearts.
